They're not in every Leaf & Lab product. We believe in choosing ingredients because they have a purpose, and you'll always find the full ingredient list on each product page.

Some skincare ingredients don't naturally smell particularly appealing, so we use natural fragrance in selected formulas to make them more enjoyable to use.

All fragrance used in Leaf & Lab products is made from 100% natural aromatic substances, such as essential oils and plant extracts. We don't use synthetic fragrance.

For those who prefer to avoid fragrance altogether, we also have fragrance-free options within the range.

We use organic ingredients wherever practical, but not every ingredient needed to create an effective, stable skincare formula is available or suitable in certified organic form.

Some ingredients are chosen for a specific purpose — whether that's performance, texture, stability or keeping the formula safely preserved.

For us, it's about finding the right balance between organic ingredients, natural origin and proven skincare actives, rather than chasing a 100% organic label at the expense of how well a product performs.

We use a high percentage of natural-origin ingredients, but sometimes a small amount of non-natural ingredients is needed for a formula to be safe, stable and effective.

Rather than aiming for 100% natural at all costs, we choose each ingredient for a reason and focus on creating products that balance natural origin, performance and safety.

Many of our formulas are also independently certified to recognised natural or organic standards such as ECOCERT COSMOS.

Retinol is a well-established skincare ingredient, but it isn't suitable for everyone and can sometimes cause dryness, flaking or irritation.

At Leaf & Lab, we've chosen a gentler approach. Instead, we use ingredients such as bakuchiol, a plant-derived retinol alternative that can help improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven tone and skin texture, generally with less irritation than retinol.

Yes, all products are vegan and cruelty-free. No animal-derived ingredients are used in the formulations, and no animal testing is conducted on any products or ingredients.

We try to use recyclable, upcycled or sustainably sourced packaging where possible. We avoid unnecessary plastic or packaging waste.

We formulate with ingredients known to support skin health, soothing agents, anti-oxidants, moisturisers. While we cannot guarantee cure or solution, many of our customers see improvements, and we provide clear information so you can choose what aligns best with your needs.

Many Leaf & Lab products can be suitable for sensitive skin, but everyone's skin is different.

If your skin is particularly sensitive or reactive, look for our CalmLab products and fragrance-free options, which are designed with gentler routines in mind. We also recommend introducing new products gradually and checking the full ingredient list if you know there are ingredients your skin doesn't tolerate well.

Most of our products have a shelf life of 3-24 months when stored properly in a cool, dry place. The natural preservation system ensures product safety throughout this period.

Since our products use natural alternatives to potentially problematic ingredients like
retinol, most are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, we
always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before introducing
new skincare products during these periods.

Most Leaf & Lab formulas are COSMOS certified by ECOCERT, either COSMOS Natural or COSMOS Organic. Our products are also manufactured in an ISO 22716 certified facility, following international Good Manufacturing Practice standards for cosmetics.

Not all alcohols in skincare are the same. In some certified natural formulas, plant-derived ethanol is used in small amounts to help with preservation, product texture and the delivery of other ingredients.

Alcohol can sometimes feel drying or irritating at higher concentrations, particularly on very sensitive or compromised skin, but its effect depends on the amount used and the overall formulation.

We look at the whole formula rather than judging an ingredient by its name alone.
